Director of KSAT- iMAK Magnet Schools

Believe you can succeed and you will!

Dear Parents and Students,

It is a pleasure to share with you that I have been named Director of the Krueger Magnet School Programs effective August 5, 2008.  I will be replacing former Director Scott Rogers recently named Assistant Principal of Krueger Middle School.

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Education Degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. I have been a public school teacher for 23 years.  In that time I have taught at both the elementary and secondary levels as a mathematics, science, social studies, and aerospace studies teacher. I have also coached basketball, football, golf, tennis, and track. I helped to develop several after-school, academic programs that were designed to stimulate student interest in becoming more proficient in science, mathematics, and technology. My most recent assignment was Grade 7 and 8 Science and Rocketry teacher in the KSAT program. My goal is to influence student learning at the school level.

It is a pleasure to work with you and the staff to insure the best possible educational experience.  It is my belief that student success is related directly to the quality of instruction provided by the teachers with support and interest from the parents. You will have an opportunity to meet our outstanding staff at our fall Open House, date to be announced.

The magnet school programs at Krueger Middle School offer a curriculum that is designed to provide hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences. Students will be engaged in instructional activities that will heighten their awareness of the future role they will play in their local and global communities.

Please activate Parent Portal on the NEISD web site if you have not already done so. Activating Parent Portal will allow you access to your child’s grades and attendance throughout the year.  Also, please read and sign the enclosed Krueger Magnet School Agreement form, which is supported by the NEISD Secondary Student Handbook.  Your child will need to turn in the Krueger Magnet School Agreement form to their advisory teacher during the first week of school.

I look forward to meeting you. Together we will make 2008 – 2009 a great school year.

Respectfully,

Russell Claughton
