Welcome to Algebra II.   It will be a great year as we explore the many things that math can do once you understand it.  Like any discipline it takes work to understand it but once you understand it, it can open up many new and exciting avenues.

Most people think math and go “uuhh, it is too much work”.  I hope I can change that point of view for anyone that thinks that way.  It is really just sitting down and exploring patterns and then once you understand the patterns, realizing you can manipulate the patterns to do what you want or finding “things” that fit a pattern and seeing how you can then predict what will happen in the future.  It kind of sounds like it is a cross between psychology and fortune telling.  I guess it just depends how you look at it and what your attitude is in trying to understand it.

Just a couple of quick things that you may want to know about me.  I have been teaching for 23 years.  This is the start of my 17th year at Madison. Each year is always different, but I always try to make sure that it is better than the last.
