 Fraction Unit TEST Nov. 20, 2008 "BATTLE OF THE BOOKS" There is a list of 20 books. Ten of them are current Bluebonnet nominees (which is good)! Kids would start now reading as many of them as they can. Starting in January or February we'd meet ... who knows when. Before school? After school? During lunch? to practice competing in a "quiz show" type format. We'd hold our own battle here and then the "winners" would go on to compete in a district battle the end of May. The only thing it would really require from you is 1) 20 minutes sometime the last week in October to present the idea to the kids and drum up some enthusiasm/participation (preferably in one or two sittings with combined classes). 2) Every once in a while just mentioning it to the kids, asking them how their reading is going, if they are keeping summary notes, etc. THAT'S IT. Everything else will be taken care of.
