The curriculum: The Preschool Program for Children With Disabilities provides educational services to children who quialify for the program with a diagnosed disability and an educational need. Mrs. Rockstroh teaches three- and four-year-old PPCD students. The PPCD classroom is designed to engage the students in developmentally appropriate learning experiences which address the objectives of each student's Individual Education Program (IEP).
Serna is a Core Knowledge school. PPCD aligns with PreK to meet the NEISD Standards for PreKindergarten, the Texas Guidelines for PreKindergarten, Core Knowledge instructional objectives, and Scholastic Early Childhood curriculum. You may call the school to inquire about any of these topics.
We realize parents are the students' first role-models and teachers. We know, too, that it can be a demanding job. We have campus personnel to help, such as Alicia Walker, Family Specialist, and district personnel, such as Becky Tarwater, Parent Liaison.
There are many websites which are related to parenting, and I will be happy to provide a list of sites if you request it. A recent find is the Scholastic Parent Newsletter at "Scholastic" <
parentupdate@message.scholastic.com>. You may want to check it out!
