Welcome NHS members.
Members: Our meeting dates have finally been set. We will meet on Nov. 4 (don't worry if you missed it - we did too), Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, Mar. 3 and Apr. 7. As always, meetings will be in the morning at 8:15 in the auditorium. A repeat of the morning meeting will take place in the library at 4:10. It is strongly suggested that you attend the morning meeting if at all possible due to issues with space and sound in the library.
Juniors and Seniors that turned in their Student Activity Information form on time, will be notified by mail later in November. Juniorss that are not accepted this year may reapply next year. You are encouraged to make an appointment to speak with Mrs. Robison about how to improve your form for next year. We ask that students speak with the sponsor, before parents call. Students that are invited to become members this year will be required to attend a meeting on Dec. 4th. A mandatory rehearsal will be held on Dec. 10th after school and induction will take place on Dec. 11th at 7:00.
Seniors need to be sure to turn in service hours for the last nine weeks. Hours were due on Nov. 5th. Don't fret if they are late, just get them in! Thanks for all your hard work.
Service Hour opportunities:
Looking for a personal math tutor - 30 minutes, 3 times a week - for Algebra 1. If you are interested please see Mrs. Cavazos in the counseling office or send me your info and I will pass it along.
Ongoing - math tutoring needed. Speak with your math teacher about dates, times and location.
Induction will be held on Dec. 11th and rehearsal will be on Dec. 10th. We always need lots of volunteers to help get the set up, line the students up in the old cafe, set up refreshments, and clean up afterwards. Sign up to help at the Dec. meeting. Yes, we will have a Dec. meeting!
The Stone Oak Winter Festival is just around the corner and we are looking for volunteers! This year, the festival is on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., although we may need volunteers an hour or two before the festival to help set up. Volunteers are welcome to help for as long as they like, but we ask that each student try to volunteer for at least 2 hours. If you are interested, groups or individuals, please contact Rachel Ingram by calling her at (210) 264-8383.
