Reagan Special Olympics

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back! If this is your child’s first year at Reagan we are excited to have you here.  I am looking forward to working with your child for another exciting and challenging year.  My goal is to help every student strive to surpass his/her past accomplishments in Special Olympics. 

Last year was an eventful year for our Special Olympians. Most of our athletes participated in one or more of the following events: bowling, basketball, track and field, swimming and softball.

We also had our Fifth Annual Hoops Classic basketball game. In case you are not familiar with the Hoops Classic it’s a fundraiser that benefits our ALE program. Our Special Olympics basketball team plays against the Reagan Administration and Faculty. Last year we filled up the gym with over 250 fans cheering us on to victory. The Reagan Pep band, cheerleaders, and dance team provided entertainment. At half time our athletes and members of Friends performed a dance number from High School Musical 2. It was a great time for all involved. Other Northeast high schools have taken note of our success, and are now having their own basketball fundraisers. This is an event you will not want to miss. The game is usually played in March, so check back for the time and date.

We are very fortunate to have the support of the Diamondbackers. Over the years the Diamondbackers have provided financial support enabling us to purchase equipment for our Special Olympics program. Each year the booster club recognizes our Special Olympians at one of their monthly meetings. If you are not a member of the Diamondbackers, I encourage you to become one.

One of the greatest assets we have at Reagan is Parent and Teacher support.

Our Special Olympics program would not be nearly as successful without the time and dedication of our parents and teachers.
